In 2010 Larsen completed the first-ever expedition to the South Pole, North Pole and Mt. Everest in a continuous 365 day period. His goal was to promote clean energy solutions, advocate strategies for reducing carbon emissions post Kyoto 2012 and to collect relevant scientific data. Through modern-day technology, Larsen took his supporters on each journey with him, filing daily updates from the field via satellite connections.
My CMH Story
"If I authored the book 100 Things to do Before you Die, going on a CMH Heli-Hiking trip would be top three. It truly is an amazing place to be and see with family and friends."
~ Marjorie B.
In 2011 Polar Explorer Eric Larsen captivated CMH Summer Adventures guests in the Bugaboo Lodge with tales of his 365-day mission to reach both the North and South Poles and the summit of Mt. Everest. Eric and his three expedition teams faced extreme temperatures and conditions ranging from white outs to shifting ice floes while dealing with complex team dynamics, gear malfunctions and accidents during the 'Save the Poles' expedition.
On this 3-day hiking, walking and educational journey in the Bugaboos you will walk with Eric and learn about his motivation for the expedition and the highs and lows of the year. Eric will inspire you with passion for snow and commitment to these harsh environments.
One evening back at the lodge Eric will enthrall guests with his presentation "Into the Heart of Cold" detailing his 2010 accomplishment. For a preview, watch the video below or read about it on our blog, The Adventure.
