CMH Facts & Figures

  • Canadian Mountain Holidays (CMH) is one of the oldest adventure travel companies in North America and the most experienced Heli-Skiing and Heli-Hiking operator in the world.

  • CMH operates in the Purcell, Selkirk, Monashee and Cariboo mountains of eastern British Columbia from 8 backcountry lodges and three town-based hotels including the Adamants, Bobbie Burns, Bugaboos, Cariboos, Galena, Valemount, McBride, Revelstoke, CMH K2, Gothics and Monashees. Our operating area encompasses approximately 15,000 square kilometres of terrain, granted under Licenses of Occupation from the British Columbia government.

  • Forty- per cent of our skiers come from the USA, 50% from Europe, and the remaining 10% from Canada and other parts of the world including Japan, Australia, Mexico, Asia, and South America

  • In the summer, CMH Summer Adventures are hosted at two of our lodges – the Bobbie Burns and Bugaboos.

  • CMH employs approximately 500 employees at peak season. Fifty employees work in the Banff office and 450 work at the BC-based lodges.

  • Safety is at the core of our operations and – it is our #1 priority. All guides are certified through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides and/or the International Federation of Mountain Guides Association, and regularly take courses in avalanche hazard evaluation and stabilization, weather analysis, and emergency medical training.

  • CMH uses Bell 212 twin-engine helicopters for most of our summer adventure and skiing programs. We also use the Bell 407s and 206s for smaller groups, snow safety, and special flights.

  • CMH supports a number of initiatives to help minimize energy consumption and waste. Composting, recycling, conscious purchasing, reducing, refusing, and reusing are all common practices that are encouraged and supported on a daily basis. In 2004, CMH was awarded by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada Parks Canada Award for Sustainable Tourism; Tourism British Columbia’s Award for Environmentally Responsible Tourism; and the Travel Alberta Alto Award for Sustainable Tourism. We were also presented with the Tourism British Columbia Award for Technology and Tourism.

  • CMH annually supports many programs and organizations in local communities where we operate. Specifically, we support programs that promote environmental stewardship, education, safety, amateur sport and community development in and around Revelstoke, Valemount, Nakusp, Banff, Canmore, Golden, McBride, and Invermere.

  • CMH is owned byIntrawest ULC.
